Frequently Asked Questions

Here's some of the questions I get asked on a regular basis!

How long do you need to allow for each person on the wedding day?

Generally I would say allow 45 minutes for hair and 45 minutes for make-up worst case scenario. This may be slightly less/more depending on the hair style and how thick/long the hair is.

When should I have a trial?

This really depends on the situation, some brides like to have the trial sooner to get the 'image' in their head of how they're going to look and tick it off the list; 6 months before the day or earlier. However, some brides may be growing their hair or getting extensions and therefore want it closer to the big day and may have it a month or few weeks before.

How long will a trial take?

Usually I would say the same as on the wedding day (45 minutes for hair and 45 minutes for make-up) but sometimes if the bride is not sure what she'd like we may need to try a few options and it could take slightly longer. The slot times are 1 hour for either hair or make-up and 2 hours for both. Please note trial times are limited for each person and any additional time is charged at £10/hour.

For a trial, do I come to you or you come to me?

I do trials at my house in Towcester, however I can travel to you for a small petrol charge if required.

Should I bring my veil/hair accessories to the trial?

Yes, it's a good idea to bring them if you have them so you can see the full 'look'. However, don't worry if you don't have them yet, they're easily worked into any style on the day.

On the wedding morning, where will we be doing the hair/make-up?

I will come to wherever you and the wedding party are getting ready.

When should I wash my hair before the trial/wedding day?

I usually ask you wash your hair on the night before a trial or the wedding day and DO NOT STRAIGHTEN! However, if your hair is particularly fine or greasy then you may want to wash it on the morning, please ensure it's FULLY DRY though.

How many people can you do in one morning?

I am happy to come at 5:00am if that's what you need. If you have more than 4 people for hair and make-up I usually suggest I bring an assistant (at no extra charge to you) as it's a lot of work for one person. I have a number of hair and make-up assistants I can call on to help on larger weddings. If you'd like me to bring an assistant to save time on any number less than 4 people (hair and make-up) I can offer this for £50 extra.

How do I book you and when do I need to pay?

To secure your date you'll need to pay a £50 deposit. I have a booking form which you can download from this website (see the link at the top of the page or click here). This must be completed and sent to me via email so I know timings, location and the services required. The trial must be paid for in advance then the balance can be paid any time up to 24 hours before the wedding day. Alternatively you can pay in cash on the day.
